About El Centro

Known. Challenged.
Supported.

El Centro is a structured program led by mentors after school for Lynn middle school teens, designed to help them grow in character, relationships, and life skills through consistent engagement and community.

Our mission

To lead students toward healthier lives filled with purpose that create lasting impact.

What we do

Mentors walk alongside Lynn middle school teens through a structured program after school focused on practical development. We do not treat growth as separate tracks. We help students develop in connected areas that shape their whole life.

Growth for the whole person

Four connected CORE areas of development.

Each season carries a specific focus and strengthens one CORE area. Together, the four areas support students as whole people.

01

Character Development

Values, purpose, discipline, and the inner foundations that shape how students live.

02

Outlook & Emotional Health

Self awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and a healthier outlook on life.

03

Relational Skills

Communication, social awareness, trust, and the skills needed for meaningful relationships.

04

Economic and Financial Understanding

Money awareness, responsible decisions, and practical planning for the future.

Structured + relational

Space to engage, reflect, and grow.

Students experience lessons that introduce practical life skills, journaling that helps them understand their inner life, consistent small groups, creative expression through active projects, and hangout time that creates space for trust and belonging.

Rather than overwhelming students with information, we help them process, apply, and live out what they are learning. The environment balances structure and freedom, with time to decompress, time to engage, and time to reflect.

What makes El Centro different

Small by design. Intentional by choice.

Designed for commitment

We prioritize consistency because meaningful development and trusted relationships require commitment.

The whole student

We focus on connected areas of growth, not just one skill, activity, or outcome.

Purposeful structure

Every lesson, conversation, project, and moment of connection has a reason behind it.

Personally known

Each season is intentionally capped at 12 students to keep the program small and personal.

Values & approach

Purposeful, accessible, and grounded in growth.

Our approach helps students build purpose, discipline, self awareness, healthy relationships, and practical life skills. El Centro welcomes students from every background. Mentors present values and character development in a way that is accessible, practical, and respectful of each student and family.

Our team

Trusted adults who walk alongside students.

El Centro is led by Jesse Lobato, who has served as a youth pastor in downtown Lynn since 2021 and has invested in teens in the city since 2018. He is supported by a small team of trained volunteers who have completed background checks, many of whom are parents themselves.

Our goal

“Equip students to become leaders who help others grow, strengthening our community one investment at a time.”
